Gaele Sobott: FIRE – addressing a world-wide ecological crisis

Gaele Sobott, founder and creative director of disabled-led arts organisation Outlandish Arts, discusses FIRE – a virtual reality installation that addresses the increasing ecological crises and urgent need for marginalised and oppressed voices to be heard.

“I believe disabled people should lead through their art. It is an important form of leadership – artists use their imaginations and right now, faced with the great dying of species and the destruction of the web of life, it is urgent that we imagine how we are going to repair still-habitable patches of our dying earth. How we are going to build upon, go beyond every preceding revolution, every movement and come up with ideas on how to change future modes of production, change how we think, eat, travel, love."
